Forever Stamps 2022 Elephants – Nature Series, First-Class Postage

US issued stamp on World Elephant Day to celebrate and raise awareness about elephants.

Designed by Raphael López, the stamp features a mother and calf elephant, emphasizing their human-like bond.

First Day City was Hohenwald, Tennessee, home of the Elephant Discovery Center and The Elephant Sanctuary.

As of 2022, all three elephant species are threatened with extinction. African bush elephants are now endangered, and forest elephants are critically endangered.

Elephants are the largest land animals globally, with distinct species found in Africa and Asia.

Threats include habitat loss and poaching for the illegal ivory trade, driven by the demand for ivory tusks.

Elephants share human-like traits, including socialization, teamwork, and emotional expressions.

African and Asian elephants differ in ear shape, trunk structure, skin color, and tusk presence.
