In 2023, USPS issued 12 Forever stamps featuring various US waterfalls, from small ones like Sunbeam Falls to worldwide attractions like Niagara Falls.

Waterfalls vary in height, distance, width, or intensity. For example, cascades are smaller, and cataracts are large, powerful single-drop waterfalls.

Vernal or ephemeral falls can only be observed during spring when snowmelt provides water temporarily.

Geologist Oscar von Engeln stated in 1942 that waterfall sites attract and hold the public’s interest.
